Mini Strawberry Heart Pies
These Mini Strawberry Heart Pies are the perfect dessert for spoiling your sweetie on Valentine’s Day or for entertaining those party guests. A pre-made pie crust is cut into the shape of hearts and then filled with sweet strawberry jam. It’s an impressive treat that looks time-consuming but is so easy to make!
Can you believe Valentine’s Day is almost upon us?
Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, I’m always amazed at how fast the stores seem to get rid of their holiday products and in with the heart-shaped decorations and goodies. I was at the store just a few days after Christmas, and I did a triple-take, as I saw ALL of the heart decor going up.
Ummm excuse me…New Year’s didn’t even happen yet. Honestly, I don’t know why this still surprises me, as this happens every year!
And speaking of Valentines’s Day, do you celebrate it with your sweetie? Or maybe with your friends? Target has the most adorable spot of Valentine’s goodies, and they have a section focused on “Gal-entines Day.” How cute is that for all of the ladies?
While the hubster and I aren’t big into Valentine’s Day, you may remember that we always skip the fancy dinner out and order a heart-shaped pizza. It’s our Valentine’s Day tradition, and this will be our sixth year doing so! And you know me…I could eat pizza every day, so eating it in the shape of a heart is just too fun (and delicious!).
And you know me…I’m all about the mini (and easy) desserts! Mini foods just seem to taste better, especially in pie form.
These Mini Strawberry Heart Pies are almost like eating a little heart-shaped pop tart! The outside is crispy and flaky, while the inside is filled with gooey and sweet strawberry jam. Mmm mmm good!
And so easy to make, too! I used two pre-made, refrigerated pie crusts and then used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut hearts from each one. Then, I filled the inside wit strawberry jam, sealed the heart with a fork, and then brushed it with an egg wash to get that golden appearance.
I chose to dip these mini pies in a vanilla glaze and then cover with sprinkles, but you could easily leave that off if you prefer. I also dusted the outsides of the crust with sparkling sugar, just to add a touch of sweetness.
If you’re looking for an impressively easy sweet treat for you Valentine, or just to satisfy your sweet tooth, then these Mini Strawberry Heart Pies will hit the spot! Crisp, flaky, and oh-so delicious, this simple dessert is sure to wow everyone!

Mini Strawberry Heart Pies
Ingredients
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 cup strawberry jam
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon water
- 2 tablespoons sparkling sugar
Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk or heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste, or vanilla extract
- Sprinkles, if desired
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Gently unroll each pie crust onto a lightly floured surface. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out an even number of hearts from each pie crust.
- Place half of hearts onto prepared baking pan. Spread about 1 tablespoon of jam onto each heart that is on the baking pan. Take the remaining hearts and place over the heart with the jam. Using a fork, press down the edges of pie crust to lightly seal.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water. Brush over the tops of each heart. Sprinkle sparkling sugar over each heart.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until hearts are golden. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes on pan. Then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
- When pies are cooled, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract. Take each mini pie and dunk into the glaze. Top with sprinkles, if desired.
These are so adorable! I agree, everything is better in mini-form. I love your Valentine’s Day tradition, it is so cute! It can definitely be hectic finding space at a busy restaurant!
Thanks for the sweet comment, Shelby! Mini desserts steal my heart every time! 🙂
Awww these little pies are SO cute! I could totally see myself making a batch of these for me and the boyfriend to share on V-day since he LOVES little fruit pies!
Thank you, Sarah!
These are absolutely adorable! I’d love to receive these little sweeties for valentine’s!
Thanks for the kind words, Annie!
OMG…how cute are these?? Great job on the video too! I have got to give these a try. And I totally know what you mean about the store putting up stuff for the next occasion when the current one is not even done. Like, what’s up with that? And it seems earlier and earlier every year. I think our Costco starts to put on Christmas stuff in July! Unreal. P.S. I’ve also got to get my hands on a heart shaped pizza. Love it! Pinned, of course. Hope your week is going awesome, Gayle!
Yes! What is with stores? I’ve noticed that at Costco too…maybe they follow Christmas in July? 🙂 Thanks for the sweet comment, friend! Happy Tuesday!
These are so super cute Gayle! We are really not big Valentine’s Day people — we’ll probably be at home and watch a movie after the kids are in bed. Lol. But we will need some dessert! 😉
Sounds like a good Valentine’s Day to me! We’re not big into it either, pizza is how we splurge! 🙂
These look so adorable Gayle and looks like we both posted something similar hehe! I posted heart shaped cookies stuffed with jam lol!!
Great minds think alike! 🙂 Thanks, Ami!
these are so cute! 🙂 perfect for Valentines Day!
Thanks, Manali!
Great video, Gayle! Now I want to make heart-shaped pies for my family for V-Day! 🙂
And I love the heart-shaped pizza tradition too. I’m pretty sure that’s what we will be doing again this year as well!
Thank you, Blair! Pizza for Valentine’s Day is the best!
I saw the hearts going up right after Christmas too and shuddered…we can’t enjoy anything for a second can we?? I’m not into Valentine’s Day much…just give me all the chocolate! I am a sucker for little heart shaped desserts, however, and these are just adorable! I love how easy they are to make, and you can never go wrong with pie crust and strawberry jam — yum!
Yay for chocolate and heart shaped anything! I’m not really into Valentine’s Day either, which is why we always celebrate with pizza! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words, Marcie!
These are the cutest Valentine’s Day treats, Gayle! I love that they’re mini and bonus that they’re so easy to make too! The sprinkles are just the perfect touch!
Thanks, Kelly!
What a sweet video…and a SUPER sweet recipe!! These just make me so happy.
Thanks for the sweet comment! 🙂
These are sooo cute!! Valentine’s Day desserts makes me so happy- I love all the reds and pinks (and delicious treats, too!)
Thanks, Sues!
These are adorable!!! LOVE the sprinkles and these are PERFECT for Valentine’s Day!
Thanks, Alice!
I always try to avoid the holiday section at the store, because they just rush into holidays WAY too fast for my taste. It always leaves me feeling pressured and stressed. So you can find me running past those isles. 😉 Boy and I don’t really do anything special for Valentine’s Day, because why should love be limited to one day of the year? But I’m sure he will bring me home flowers. I DO remember you mentioning you guys do a heart shaped pizza last year and I thought that idea was AMAZING! I looked around here, but there is no place that does that. I’m thinking I’ll have to whip one up myself. And OBVIOUSLY I’ll need these fabulous mini pies for dessert!!! These are the cutest, Gayle!! And I love that they are super easy to make! Great use of pre-made pie crust! And the strawberry jam filling sounds superb! I’ll have to practice some serious self restraint, because I know I’ll want these all to myself! Pinned of course! Cheers!
I totally agree…I hate how stores do that! And yes to limiting love with Valentine’s Day, I agree, it shouldn’t be like that! 🙂 I’m sure you could totally whip up your own heart pizza, Cheyanne! I would order from you! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words and pin!
I haaaate how early stores changes out holiday merch – always throws me off!! These little heart pies are the cutest ever though. The strawberry filling sounds amazing!
Yes! Definitely throws me off, too. Thanks, Rachel!
My comment did not go through yesterday… These look adorable Gayle! Yeah, can’t believe it is almost Valentine’s day! Sharing!
Thanks, Mira!
These are so cute, Gayle! I think I might make them with my toddler. We don’t really do a big celebration of V-Day, but we decided to do a little something to celebrate how grateful we are for our family this year.
Thanks you, Nora! I’m sure your daughter will love this! We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day either, only with our heart-shaped pizza! 🙂
Gayle, you know I’ve been dreaming about that heart-shaped pizza since you mentioned it, but honestly, I’d SO rather have these super adorable strawberry heart pies over those! I love how wonderfully festive and cute these are! Also, I totally know what you mean about doing that double/triple take upon seeing V-Day stuff in the store right after Christmas. It’s crazy how fast everything moves! Now if only we could all have a fresh plate of these pies and just savor the moment. <3 Happy Monday, G!
Thanks for the sweet comment, friend! Mini pies definitely steal my heart, too!
