Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Rigatoni
This Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Rigatoni is the perfect comfort dish that’s ready in just 30 minutes. Zesty sausage, fresh mushrooms and rigatoni pasta are tossed in flavorful cream sauce. Hearty, comforting, and all-around delicious, this meal-time favorite is sure to be a winner all year long!
It’s not only the first day of June (hooray!), but it also happens to be the first 30 Minute Thursday of the month!
And I can’t think of a better way to quick off the unofficial start of summer than with an easy and oh-so creamy pasta dish. After all, we could all use a little more pasta in our life…am I right?
But, before I dive into the recipe, let me remind those of you who might be new around here what 30 Minute Thursdays are all about, because I just know your curious!

So, let’s get to the recipe, which also happens to be my new favorite pasta dish!

If you love Italian sausage and mushrooms, then this Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Rigatoni was made for you. I mean, what could be better? The zesty cream sauce and hearty ingredients make this a winner for dinner.
I could go on and on about my love of mushrooms (have you tried my Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic and Rosemary yet?), but I’ll spare you the details. But, whenever I come across a dish with mushrooms, or think of new dinner ideas, you can bet that I’m always spinning my wheels on how to incorporate this veggie.
But, I can’t take credit for this dish. I found this deliciousness in an Taste of Home Skillet Recipes magazine that I bought at the beginning of the year. It has given me some great dinner inspiration, and when I spotted this dish, I just knew I had to make it.
And let me tell you, it’s so good. I tweaked it a bit based on my own preferences, and I just couldn’t get enough the flavorful ingredients.
And, friends, this Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Rigatoni is so easy to make! But, you knew that was coming, right? You’ll make everything in one skillet and then toss the sausage and mushroom sauce over some cooked rigatoni. I’m not a big fan of leftovers, but let me tell you, I ate this pasta for a second (and third!) meal, it was just that good!

Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Rigatoni
Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package rigatoni noodles
- 1 pound bulk mild Italian sausage
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 16 ounces sliced fresh baby bella mushrooms
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- Fresh parsley for garnish, if desired
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook and crumble sausage until no longer pink. Drain and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-6 minutes, or until mushrooms are tender and most of the liquid is evaporated.
- Add heavy cream to the same skillet and stir to combine. Bring mixture to a boil, then lower heat to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Add sausage to skillet and heat through.
- Serve pasta with sauce and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
YES! We could all definitely have a little more pasta in our lives, especially when it looks as this! You probably know, like you, I’m a big fan of mushrooms too and this one looks packed with them! Totally heart eyes looking at your pics right now and I just want to grab a fork and dig right in. And love the sausage touch too.
