Do I Need to Cook the Ravioli Beforehand?
Nope! Whether you use fresh or frozen ravioli, there is no need to cook this ahead of time.
What Kind of Chicken is Best?
For a time-saving shortcut, I used the cooked, already-shredded rotisserie chicken that you can find near the deli section of your grocery store. However, you can cook and dice your own chicken breast or even use frozen chicken if you’re in a hurry.
How to Make:
- Add ingredients: Grease a large casserole dish and add all of the ingredients (minus the mozzarella cheese) into the dish. Stir well to combine and spread evenly in the pan.
- Bake: Place dish into the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, then remove and top with shredded cheese. Return pan to the oven and bake until cheese is melted.
How to Store:
Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- To reheat: Warm in the microwave, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
- To freeze: place cheesy ravioli in a freezer-safe container or bag and store in the freezer for up to three months. When ready to serve, let thaw completely in the refrigerator.
What to Serve with Baked Alfredo Ravioli:
I like to serve this pasta with some cheesy garlic bread, a green salad, or roasted asparagus or roasted broccoli.
Variations:
- Use a different sauce: Use a garlic Alfredo sauce, basil pesto sauce, or marinara sauce for tasty swap.
- Swap the cheese: Instead of mozzarella, use cheddar, pepperjack, Swiss, or gouda in its place.
- Use different pasta: Fresh tortellini or another fresh or frozen pasta would work. You could also boil pasta and then add it to the chicken.
- Add some veggies: Add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers to the layers for a burst of color and nutrition.
- Buffalo Chicken: Incorporate shredded buffalo chicken for a spicy kick, and top with blue cheese crumbles.
- Italian Sausage: Swap out the chicken for crumbled Italian sausage for a heartier flavor.
- Seafood Alfredo: Replace chicken with shrimp or crab for a seafood-inspired version.
- Spinach and Ricotta: Use cheese-filled ravioli and add layers of ricotta and fresh spinach for a vegetarian option.
