Ranch seasoning holds a special place in my foodie heart.
It’s my favorite salad dressing and I love using the little packets of ranch seasoning mix on chicken, vegetables, popcorn, and so much more. The flavor is incredible and it’s just so versatile.
As convenient as the store-bought kind is, I wanted to make my own version to have on-hand. The processed packs are tasty but contain so much salt and artificial ingredients. And after all, homemade anything is the best…am I right?
If you love ranch like I do, then this homemade ranch seasoning recipe is calling your name. It’s flavorful, takes about 5 minutes to make, and is delicious on just about everything.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe:
- Easy to prepare: you can have this ready to go in just five minutes.
- Minimal ingredients: just a few simple seasonings and herbs is all it takes to make this mix.
- Versatile: this simple ranch seasoning recipe is perfect for meats, pasta, veggies and to make as a dip and dressing.
Ingredients in Dry Ranch Seasoning Mix:
- Buttermilk powder: this makes the seasoning taste just like the Hidden Valley ranch seasoning recipe.
- Dried herbs and spices: dill, parsley, chives, garlic powder, onion powder
- Sea salt and black pepper: don’t use table salt if you can help it. Sea salt or kosher salt is best for this recipe.
How to Make:
- Mix: in a medium bow, whisk all ingredients together until well combined.
- Store: add mix to an airtight container or glass jar and store at room temperature.
How Long Will This Last?
The fresher the dried herbs and seasonings are, the longer this will last. For example, if your seasonings expire in two months, then the ranch will expire in two months. As a general rule of thumb, I like to keep this for about six months, although it never lasts that long around here!
Do You Have to Use Buttermilk Powder?
Nope! You can make this without it, though I find using the powdered buttermilk gives it a richer, deeper flavor, very similar to the store-bough ranch packets.
