Ingredients in Apple Cinnamon Roll Casserole:

  • Canned cinnamon rolls
  • Canned apple pie filling

Streusel topping:

  • Unsalted butter
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt

How to Make Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.

  2. Open each can of cinnamon rolls, setting the icing to the side. Cut each roll into 6 pieces; then cut each piece in half. Places cinnamon roll pieces into a large bowl.

  3. Add half of the can of apple pie filling to the cinnamon roll pieces and stir to combine. Spread into prepared baking dish. Set aside.

  4. In a medium bowl, add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. Place the cubed, cold butter into the bowl and using a fork or your hands, cut the butter into the flour mixture so that it resembles coarse sand.

  5. Top cinnamon roll pieces with half of the streusel mixture; followed by the remaining half of apple pie filling. Stir to combine. Then top with the rest of streusel mixture.

  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until cinnamon rolls are cooked through and golden. Drizzle icing on top before serving.

What Kind of Cinnamon Rolls Should I Use?

A can of cinnamon rolls works perfectly for this recipe.  Use your favorite brand of cinnamon rolls (I used Pilsbury for this recipe). However, if you have homemade cinnamon rolls, those would be extra delicious.

How to Store:

The easiest way to store leftovers is in an airtight container or plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to three days.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

Yes! You can prepare everything up to one day ahead of time and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. Let dish sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before baking.

How to Serve:

I love to serve this easy dessert recipe warm from the oven. It’s even tastier with a dollop of whipped cream, cream cheese frosting, or, if you’re feeling extra indulgent, a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Variations:

  • Switch up the pie filling: cherry, blueberry, strawberry or even pumpkin would be scrumptious.
  • Toppings: Add an extra crunch with some chopped pecans or walnuts;  sprinkle some white chocolate chips on top; or even a swirl of caramel sauce.
  • Try a different kind cinnamon roll: if you can find another flavored version, such as pumpkin or orange cinnamon roll, it would be a fun twist!
