Pumpkin Pie Bites
If you’re looking for things to make with pumpkin puree, try these Pumpkin Pie Bites! They are a healthy, no-bake version of the classic dessert, but made easy without all of the prep work. Filled with ground oats, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and spices, these pumpkin energy balls are the perfect treat for fall!
You’ll also love these Pumpkin Banana Muffins, Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies, and Pumpkin Spice Milkshake!
Nothing makes me happier than whipping up a batch of these pumpkin pie bites. They taste like pumpkin pie but are actually more like pumpkin energy balls!
Easy and healthy fall snacks are a sure winner in my book. If you’ve tried my Peanut Butter Banana Energy Bites (which I make on a monthly basis), you know how good energy bites can be.
So in honor of fall, I decided to modify my favorite recipe and turn it into a pumpkin-filled treat!
And guess what? These Pumpkin Pie Bites literally took just minutes to prepare. That’s it! You simply mix your wet ingredients, stir it into the ground oats, and shape into balls. Told you it was easy!
What Makes These Pumpkin Pie Bites So Great
- These pumpkin balls take just like the pie, but in a smaller form!
- They’re super fast to make — you just need 10 minutes!
- They’re packed with healthy ingredients that will give you a boost of energy!
Ingredients in Pumpkin Pie Bites
This is one of my favorite pumpkin snacks. I love that the ingredients list is short, but packed with flavor!
- Pure pumpkin puree
- Honey
- Peanut butter
- Old-fashioned oats
- Chia seeds
- Ground cinnamon
- Pumpkin pie spice
Instead of using whole oats, I ground them up in a food processor. This ensures that you get a smooth treat, which maximizes the pumpkin flavor.
I also used Jif Whipped Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter to mold these bites together. Have you tried that yet? Amazing! But, if you can’t find that version, regular peanut butter works just as well.
How to Make Pumpkin Pie Bites
These pumpkin protein balls come together quickly and easily. Here’s an overview of how the bites come together:
- In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, honey, and peanut butter.
- Add in the oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir well.
- Using a small spoon or scoop, roll the mixture into balls with your hands.
- Refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes, or until firm, if needed.
Once you bite into these cuties, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Thanksgiving, where pumpkin pie is plentiful. Full of flavor and easy to pop ‘n go, I guarantee these pumpkin pie bites will be your favorite healthy treat!
Recipe Variations to Try
- Switch up the peanut butter with a different nut butter like almond, cashew, or pecan!
- Try maple syrup instead of honey to add more fall flavor!
- If you want a little crunch with these bites, finely chop some nuts and roll the bites in the nuts before putting them in the fridge!
- If you don’t keep chia seeds on hand, I imagine flax seeds could be substituted.
How to Store Pumpkin Pie Bites
These pumpkin balls will keep covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks — if they last that long!
Tips for Making Pumpkin Balls
- If you used the Jif Whipped Peanut Butter, there’s not need to melt it first as it’s light and relatively thin by itself.
- If you use a regular creamy peanut butter, you many need to melt it slightly before combining it with the other ingredients.
- Be sure to use pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling! Otherwise these energy bites will end up much sweeter.

Pumpkin Pie Bites
Ingredients

- ¼ cup honey
- ½ cup Jif Whipped Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter, (or regular peanut butter, slightly melted – see note below)
- ¾ cups old-fashioned oats, (ground in food processor or blender)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin, honey, and peanut butter. Add in ground oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir well.
- Using a small spoon or scoop, roll into balls. Refrigerate for at least 15-30 minutes, or until ready to serve. Store in the refrigerator.
Notes
- If you used the Jif Whipped Peanut Butter, there is no need to melt it first, as it’s light and relatively thin by itself. If you use regular creamy peanut butter, than you will need to melt it slightly, about 5-10 seconds in the microwave so that it’s easy to mix.

Great snack after crunching over a few leaves of a fall walk. Even better…….seems so easy to make. Just what we need right now. No baking required which is perfect too!

Thanks, Kelly! I love creating different kinds of energy bites. So much fun to make and even better to eat! Have a great weekend!
Hi. Do you think these can be frozen if I make a double batch?
Hi Michael! I’ve never tried freezing these before, but I think it would turn out fine. Hope you enjoy!
Yum, these sound really delicious! I love pumpkin anything at this time of year, and I love that these are no-bake and healthy!
Thanks so much, Kelly! These no-bake bites are full of pumpkin flavor and great for a quick pick-me-up!
Gayle, I haven’t heard of the Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter from Jif, but will definitely be looking for it the next time I’m at the store. In the meantime, I’m going to make these this morning for our snack with regular peanut butter. Thanks for the healthy recipe and enjoy the relaxing weekend with your husband!
I hope you can find this peanut butter flavor, Heather! Jiff also makes a whipped maple brown sugar one that is incredible! I hope you enjoy these bites! And have a great weekend, too!
Gayle, the bites were delicious! Yes, they are gone:) The spices you used were the perfect blend along with the pumpkin and peanut butter. We will definitely make them again(and again)!
Heather, I am so glad that you liked these bites! Thank you so much for letting me know, too. That totally made my day! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I love all your pumpkin spice recipes, but this one is just great! I also feel like I need extra energy and these are just perfect. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of energy bytes recipes, but never tried adding peanut butter or pumpkin spiced one 🙂
Thanks so much, Mira! I originally made peanut butter energy bites a few months ago and loved them! So I decided to modify those for a fall treat. So much fun to experiment with!
You are definitely my go-to blog for everything pumpkin related. I love that you have added chia seeds too.
I love sneaking in chia seeds whenever I can! Gives everything an added health boost, especially in these bites!
Those look really good Gayle! I love pumpkin anything, and I can’t wait to try these. We don’t have pumpkin spice peanut butter here though, I’ll have to try them with regular peanut butter. It’s always so annoying hearing about cool products in the states that we don’t get in Canada!! 🙂 Something else on the list to try next time I’m there I guess!
Thanks for the kind words, Stacey! That’s too bad about the peanut butter! I’m sure if you add in some extra pumpkin pie spice, it will taste just as good! 🙂
Wow, these sound awesome! I did not know such a thing as pumpkin spice peanut butter exists, but now that I know about it, I NEED it. PB is my favorite food in the first place, but add in pumpkin spice? These little bites look delicious.
I’ve seen your name a few places recently, and I had to see stop to check things out because any blog with “pumpkin” in it is bound to be great! 🙂
You definitely need to try this, Sarah! The pumpkin peanut butter is amazing! And since it’s whipped, it’s creamier, too! 🙂 I’m so glad you found my blog and I hope you love my pumpkin recipes!
these look great plsu so easy to make! I’m getting the pumpkin butter when I go grocery next! Have a great weekend Gayle!
I hope you love the pumpkin peanut butter, Manali! Have a wonderful weekend, too!
I just made these yesterday for a cookout and they were a success! Can I use powdered PB instead of regular PB?
I’m so happy you liked these, Deborah! I’ve never made these with pb powder before, so I don’t know how well it would work because of the consistency.
I love snacks like this that are healthy, but taste so great they can stand in for dessert! These are such a great fall snack! 🙂
Me too, Marcie! I wish all desserts could be healthy snacks! 🙂
I’ve been wanting to try making some of these kinds of ‘energy bites’ for ages, but this recipe really appeals to me. I like the fact that they’ll end up smooth … and that you’ve added in a little bit of that spicy peanut butter. Pinning these!
Thanks so much for the kind words and pin, Helen! I love the fact that these bites are smooth, too. Ground the oats, instead of leaving them whole, really enhances the flavor to me. I hope you love these if you try them!
Aw yum! We are twinning with recipes as of late 🙂 Love these bites.
Yes we are! Great minds think alike! 🙂 So glad you like these, Medha!
I woke up this morning, and it took me a few minutes until I realized it was Friday. Then I was all, “Helloooooo Friday!” and had a smile on my face as I left the house. I just love Fridays : )
Hurray for more pumpkin recipes! I should really invest in pumpkin stock with how much pumpkin I’ve been using. Ha! These energy bites sound deeelish! Have a great weekend friend : )
Fridays are definitely the best! I just wake up happier and work seems better, too! 🙂 Oh my gosh, I would be the queen of pumpkin stock, Natalie! I have used so many cans of pumpkin so far this year, and have a good handful of cans still left in my kitchen. Have a great weekend, too!
THAT PB. I must get that peanut butter asap. I love that you used actual pumpkin puree in this, too, and not just the spice. Energy bites are my favorite thing (because, let’s be honest, instant gratification 🙂 ) Pinning!
You must find this peanut butter, Mary Frances! It’s life-changing! 🙂 And instant gratification is always the best! Thanks for the kind words and pin!
Whipped pumpkin spice peanut butter?? Holy smokes does that sound good! I’ll have to keep an eye out! These pumpkin bites look delish!

Thanks, Thalia! The pumpkin and peanut butter held these bites together so well. I can’t wait to see your recipe with these, I’m sure it will be fabulous!
I adore your pb energy bites! The work week is so weird…for most part, it drags. Yet come the end of the week, I’m always like “Wtf?! Where did that go?!”. Then I have to look at the long list of things that I didn’t quite manage to accomplish haha!
I hope you enjoy your chilled out weekend 🙂 I can’t wait to give these a go. Pinned x
Thanks so much, Tash! And I totally agree with you, the week seems to drag when it’s around Wednesday, but when Friday hits, it seems like it comes fast! Hope you had a great weekend, too!
Hello yummy little pumpkin pie bites!! I must make some of these asap! I can only imagine how tasty they are! 🙂 Pinned!
Thanks so much for the kind words and pin, Jocelyn! These bites are so tasty and full of pumpkin flavor!
I always wish for the weekends to be longer. I think the week days and weekends should be reversed. 5 day weekends and 2 day work weeks. 😉
These pumpkin pie bites sound so tasty and simple. They would be the perfect snack for this busy weekend. I’m on the hunt for this peanut butter as soon as I get home! Pinned!
Ha ha I definitely agree, Jen! I hope you find the pumpkin spice peanut butter, it’s amazing! And that so much for the kind words!

This would be a great pre-workout snack, Lindsey! I hope you love them if you try them. And thanks for the pin, girl!
JIFF has pumpkin spice peanut butter? Why am I not surprised! LOL! Man, times have a changed since I could eat nuts!
The pumpkin spice peanut butter is the best! I’m stocking up for when the fall is over! 🙂
HA! So I found myself thinking “I want to find some cool pumpkin recipes, wonder what Pumpkin n spice is up to?” and then I was gratified to find these! Lovely!
Glad you’re here! 🙂 Enjoy!
These look like the perfect easy fall snack! Thanks for the reminder about that Jif Pumpkin Spice whipped PB — I buy it every year and I need to stock up this season. So good!
That peanut butter is a favorite of mine! Thanks, Blair!
I’ve never had that PB before and don’t recall seeing it, but now I’ll have to be on the look out because I bet it’s amazing! These bites are pretty awesome too and totally acceptable for breakfast…though I know I’d eat 6 for sure! Pinned and happy Monday to ya!
That peanut butter usually comes out every fall, though I haven’t found it yet, either! Thanks for the pumpkin love, friend!
Giiiiirl, you were making bites before bites were even a popular thing!!! Look at you, you trend setter! You should lay claim to making bites popular! I’d back you! 😉 So glad you updated these, because I missed them the first time around, and they look AMAZING! You know I’m just starting to get my pumpkin eating on, so I can’t wait to add these to the list of things to try! Pinned! Cheers!
Haha I’m pretty sure bites were popular back then…but who knows! 🙂 Thanks, Cheyanne!
I love this spin on energy bites! Everything pumpkin, I say!!
Agreed!
OMG YESSSS! These look SO perfect- just the little poppable snack I need to have around instead of candy or the like 😉 Love!
Thanks for the pumpkin love, Karly!
Love the new photos. These bites look fantastic! Pinned to try them!
Thanks, Mira!
Could u use flaxseed instead of chai seed
Hi Brandi! I’ve never used flax seed in these before, but I think that would be fine. Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by!
I’ve mixed them up and letting them chill in the fridge. I can’t wait to try them actually I tried some as I was rolling them out and they were so delicious. I used crunchy peanut butter to add a little more of a nutty crunch to them. I can’t wait to pull them out and try them. It’s just the thing I was looking for whenever hunger strikes, which seem to be happening more and more as I get into my third trimester. This baby will be sick of pumpkin by the time she’s born ?.
I hope you and baby like these bites, Kyndall! They’re my favorite!
These look so good! I don’t have a food processor. Would quick oats work instead of old fashioned since they’re more fine?
Hi Jette! The point of using a food processor is to ground the oats into like an oat flour almost, so quick oats would need to be ground, too. If you have a blender, that would work just as well!
Great, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for getting back to me!
You’re very welcome! Hope you enjoy!
What might be used in place of the nut butter?
Hi Kim! I’ve never tried anything in place of it, so I have no idea what might work.
Hi there! How many energy bites does this recipe yield?
Hello! This recipe yields around 20 bites. Enjoy!
Hello there I was wondering if ground flaxseed would work? That is all I have on hand so it is like a Dusty powder instead of being a seed. Or could it be left out all together will that hurt? Is there a main purpose for these?
Thanks, Danielle
Hi Danielle! Ground flaxseed would definitely work, or you could leave it out all together. Chia seeds are just added for extra fiber, not to hold the bites together. Hope you enjoy!
