That’s right…this banana recipe is a combination of a cakey cobbler and a quick bread. Plus, it has an oat streusel swirl that makes it out-of-this-world delicious.
And the best part? This easy banana cobbler is made with simple ingredients, starting with yellow cake mix. It’s the base for this cobbler recipe and makes it simple, yet decadently tasty.
Serve this banana bread cobbler recipe warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and your dessert dreams are made.

What to Serve with This Dessert:

- Homemade whipped cream
- More sliced bananas
Pro tip: If not serving this banana dessert right away, heat in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds just before serving. The warm taste and texture will melt in your mouth!
Tips for Making the Best Cobbler:
- Use ripe bananas. The best bananas for any banana dessert are brown, and the more spots, the better! The riper the fruit, the sweeter the fruit.
- Feel free to omit the butterscotch chips completely or swap with chocolate chips or peanut butter chips.
- Don’t skip the oat streusel! It gives this banana bread cobbler with cake mix so much flavor.
- Add some blueberries, strawberries, or sliced peaches for a fruitier cobbler.

you have baking powder in the ingredient’s but you never say where to add it! sooo ???????
The baking powder should be added along with the flour.
I made this tonight and it was a hot with my fiance as well as with me. I didn’t change anything and I can see how versatile this recipe could be with other flavors. I’m wondering if you have tried freezing this? It’s just the two of us so this would be very helpful if it’s possible without losing the wonderful texture of the topping or messing up the bananna that’s incorporated in it. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe.
I’m so happy you both enjoyed, Sherry! I haven’t tried freezing this, as I’m not sure how the topping would hold, though I’m thinking it would be fine for up to two months.
