If you’ve been hanging around here long enough, you know that I’m all about banana bread. From this Banana Bread Granola, Banana Bread Scones, and this Baked Banana Bread Oatmeal, I love it all.
So, it only seemed natural that I take my classic banana bread recipe and jazz it up a bit.
Blueberry and banana make the most delicious combination, especially when cinnamon streusel is involved. It’s moist, packed with flavor, and just captures the flavors of the fruits perfectly.
This Cinnamon Streusel Blueberry Banana Bread is my favorite quick bread to date. As soon as I smelled it baking in the oven, I knew I had a winner.
The texture, the flavor, and that sweet, cinnamon-y, brown sugary streusel adds the most perfect crunch of sweetness. I mean, just look at that crumble on top!
If you’re a lover of banana bread, I guarantee this is the only recipe that you’ll need from here on out. Like most of my baked goods, I added in some Greek yogurt to keep the bread extra moist, without sacrificing flavor. And did I mention the cinnamon streusel? If you haven’t tried it on top of banana bread before, you’re totally missing out. Trust me…it’s a game-changer!
So, grab those blueberries and bananas and whip up this easy Cinnamon Streusel Blueberry Banana Bread. One bite and you’ll be hooked on the texture, flavor, and all-around deliciousness!
What’s in Blueberry Banana Bread?
This blueberry banana bread has two components: the quick bread itself and the streusel topping. Here’s everything that goes into this blueberry banana streusel bread:
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder and baking soda
- Ground cinnamon
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- Granulated sugar
- Light brown sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Mashed bananas
- Blueberries
How to Make Blueberry Banana Bread
The steps for this banana blueberry streusel bread are simple!
- Mix together the dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
- In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugars.
- Add the remaining wet ingredients into the butter mixture one at a time.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet.
- Fold in the mashed bananas and the blueberries.
- Turn the batter into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Make the streusel topping and sprinkle over top.
- Bake until done.
Should I Use Fresh or Frozen Blueberries?
Either will work in this banana blueberry streusel bread! If using frozen blueberries, add them to the batter straight from the freezer. You may need to add a couple minutes to the bake time.
Can I Freeze Banana Bread?
Absolutely! To freeze this blueberry banana bread, let it cool completely and then seal inside a freezer bag. Alternately, wrap it in a few layers of plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. To thaw, set on your counter overnight.
Tips for Making Blueberry Banana Bread
- If using salted butter, scale back the amount of salt you add to the batter.
- For an ever richer quick bread, I’m sure you could make this blueberry banana bread with sour cream rather than Greek yogurt.
- Note that regular yogurt shouldn’t be substituted for the Greek yogurt as it’s not thick enough.
